Painting and pottery – ´a world of colour’ is our new creative course for 2017! We have always been inspired to run this course, as Portugal has tiles (ázulejos) down to a fine art. We will work with Marta, a professional ceramicist from Caldas da Rainha, who will inspire and guide you in a fun and simple pottery process.  A   simple but perfect painting and pottery course which combines basic design, colour theories and painting (with Kit & Samantha Jennings), along with simple hand moulding and glazing techniques. We will visit the unofficial capital of Portuguese pottery, Caldas da Rainha and enjoy strolling in the sculpture gardens nearby. A relaxing but creatively rewarding holiday on the Silver Coast of Portugal.

In your free time you can walk along the beach and clifftops, relax at the seafront cafes. A unique holiday hosted and guided by  Kit and Samantha Jennings. Sample delicious Portuguese meals and wine, and allow Portugal to seduce you with its gentle charm!

Cost:  €695 per person in a shared room or €740 for a single room. Includes tuition, 6 night´s accommodation, breakfast and one main meal each day. Local transport is provided each day to the locations.

Local residents not requiring accommodation can join for a reduced price.

NB:  Portuguese cuisine in this region. The Portuguese generally eat very heartily and enjoy a fish and meat diet. The food is known to be healthy and delicious as well as generous. The national dish of which there are about 120 varieties is Bacalhau. Fish is excellent and plentiful. Variety of salads and omelettes.   The Portuguese pastries and cakes are particularly delicious. The wine is particularly good as well as the local liquers,Port, Berao, Amendoa etc. Cooked vegetarian or vegan options however are a little lacking in this area of Portugal.

A little bit about the location

Sao Martinho do Porto is known for its incredible crescent-shaped bay – excellent for swimming, walking and relaxing. There are many waterfront bars and great seafood restaurants as well as a fresh produce market and supermarket. The whole region of Alcobaca abounds in historic architecture and picturesque towns such as Alcobaca, Nazare and Obidos, which you are free to visit in your leisure time. NB If you choose the accommodation in Sao Martinho do Porto, you will be within easy walking distance of the beach and shops; if you book our studio apartment you will be in a small village with rural walks at 3km from Sao Martinho do Porto.

Non-participating guests – it is possible for a partner or friend to join this holiday even if they don’t want to participate in the activity.
